Glass Skin Facial

Fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and enlarged pores are some of the most common skin problems. While these are typically associated with aging, they can occur in younger people as well because of sun exposure, pollution, smoking, or other factors.

About the Glass Skin Facial

A glass skin facial can be an ideal solution for certain individuals looking for a non-invasive and safe way to rejuvenate their facial skin. By combining the therapeutic effects of microneedling and Botox infusion, glass skin facials deliver pleasing and natural anti-aging results.

At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, our core expertise lies in designing and delivering personalized, non-invasive anti-aging cosmetic therapies. The practice is headed by board-certified physician and surgeon, Dr. Alexis Gordon, who oversees or performs all procedures to achieve optimal results.

What is a Glass Skin Facial?

Botox belongs to the class of “neuromodulators” and is made from a toxin derived from a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. After the toxin is extracted, it undergoes a series of purification steps that leaves behind a crystalline complex that contains a mix of the toxin and proteins.

A glass skin facial leverages the micro-channels created using microneedling to infuse Botox and healing serums into the skin. The microneedling procedure creates tiny injuries on the skin that stimulates the natural healing process by stepping up the production of collagen and elastin – the skin health proteins. Collagen and elastin work to boost the volume, tone, and strength of the skin and erases wrinkles and fine lines while firming up the skin.

How the Glass Skin Facial works

Botox is a neuromodulator and a popular choice for addressing facial wrinkles and fine lines, particularly frown lines, smile lines, and crow’s feet. To achieve wrinkle reduction, it is injected into the facial muscles.

In the glass skin facial, smaller amounts of the neuromodulator are infused into the skin instead of the muscle through micro-channels created by microneedling to achieve skin tightening. Skin infusion of Botox achieves a subtle, yet effective, anti-aging effect by firming up the skin and reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

The Glass Skin Facial procedure

She provides step-by-step instructions that you need to follow before the glass skin facial and the after-care to maximize the benefits of the procedure. Preparing for the glass skin facial involves avoiding retinoid creams, topical antibiotics, and exfoliants 3-4 days before the procedure. You will also be advised to avoid waxing, shaving, or using depilatory creams 5-7 days before the facial.

The treatment begins with a thorough cleansing of the area to be treated. Dr. Gordon uses a topical anesthetic to numb the area and minimize discomfort during and after the facial. Micro injuries are then created on the face using a SkinPen™ device. Botox is then infused into the skin through the internal system of the microneedling device. Alternatively, the practitioner may first perform microneedling and then spread the Botox serum across the skin.
