Why does skin sag?
As we age, our skin reduces the natural production of hyaluronic acid, which is a compound essential for the fullness and tightness of the skin. Our exposure to UV radiation in sunlight leads to the breakdown of these hyaluronic bonds. Over time, this can lead to the loosening and sagging of the skin. Additionally, the repetition of certain facial expressions causes our skin to lose its firmness, resulting in sagging.

What are HA fillers and how do they work?
HA stands for Hyaluronic Acid. These fillers are made from biologically-safe hyaluronic acid, and are designed to keep your skin taut and line-free.
The HA fillers are formulated specifically to treat dynamic wrinkles and folds that are formed due to facial movements. The HA dermal fillers contain compounds that are very similar to the hyaluronic acid compounds produced naturally in your body.
When injected into your skin, the HA fillers will add volume to your skin, fill up the hollow spaces and boost the natural production of hyaluronic acid by your body. Over the course of a few weeks, you’ll notice a significant reduction in the wrinkles and folds in your skin.

How is the procedure performed?
At Renew MD Facial Aesthetics, we will first evaluate your aesthetic needs to identify the type of HA filler that is best for you. At the time of treatment, we will apply topical numbing cream to ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible. Our injectors are experienced and well versed in which HA filler to use on your areas of concern.
After your initial treatment, we will provide you with an ice pack and arnica for you to take home to help with your recovery. We may use a single type or a combination of HA fillers. Small quantities of the HA filler are injected into various treatment sites. We may massage your face to ensure the HA fillers are evenly spread across the treatment site. We may inject more in some areas to add volume as needed.
Recovery
There is very little downtime with HA fillers. You may notice minor swelling, bruising, tenderness, and inflammation at the treatment site, but these symptoms can subside within a few days. The results of your treatment can be noticed in as little as 2 weeks.
HA fillers can last 6 months to 2 years. Staying hydrated, using medical grade skin care, and scheduling routine skin maintenance can help increase the longevity of your HA filler treatment. You will also be scheduled for a follow up at Renew MD Facial Aesthetics anywhere from 4-12 weeks post treatment.
